Christie was born on the 15th of September 1890 in Torquay,Devon, England. She was married twice and had one child with the first.
In between her marriages she disappeared. Her disappearance caused an outcry from the public, many of whom were admirers of her novels. Despite a massive manhunt, she was not found for 11 days.
Known mostly for her 80 mystery novels, Christie is the best-selling author of books of all time (only the bible has sold more copies.)
Christie also wrote many plays under the pen name Mary Westmacott.
Christie died in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, England on 12 January 1976 at age 85.(1976-01-12) (1890-09-15)
